Getting a grant of probate
You’ll need a grant of probate in order to sell your loved one’s property. This involves making an application to the probate registry. The application itself can take a long time, as you’ll have to calculate the value of the deceased’s assets and pay inheritance tax, if it’s due. This is a lot of paperwork to complete at a time when you’re dealing with a bereavement.
As a full-service law firm, we are in the privileged position of having a dedicated team of probate and estate administration solicitors, along with a team of residential conveyancing solicitors. Our probate team can get the grant on your behalf. In the meantime, our conveyancing solicitors can prepare the sale, gathering the necessary documents and liaising with the buyer’s solicitor. Once the grant of probate is issued, we can finalise the sale, completing the transaction as quickly as possible.
We appreciate this is a difficult time for you. Our multi-disciplinary approach means we can remove the burden from your shoulders, making the process of selling a probate property as smooth and as stress-free as possible.
