It hit the news today (1st November 2022) that Made.com have announced plans to appoint administrators after failing to find a buyer for the business.
Made.com, which employs up to 700 staff, stopped taking orders last week in order to preserve value in the business for the company's creditors. The company have also announced that trading in its shares had been suspended.
With its head office in London, and other offices in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, China and Vietnam, business was great for Made.com during the Coronavirus pandemic, with people kitting out their homes with new furniture and homewares during the lockdowns.
However, the rising cost of living, meaning people are cutting back on spending, alongside supply chain issues which have left customers waiting months for their orders, have caused huge problems for Made.com.
With up to 700 jobs at risk, we know how devastating this could be for all of the staff - especially if they're to be made redundant without notice.
If you're facing redundancy from Made.com, we may be able to help you.
What is a Protective Award Claim?
When an employer makes more than 20 staff redundant at one location, they legally have to consult with either a recognised trade union or elected employee representatives. If Made.com did not comply with this obligation, and you were made redundant without notice, you may be entitled to claim compensation by bringing a claim for a protective award to the Employment Tribunal.
Our redundancy solicitors would like to support former employees of Made.com with bringing a claim for a protective award, where the Tribunal is able to award up to 90 days’, pay capped at £571 per week (£4568 in total) to each individual who is part of the claim.
